Privacy Policy

Last Modified Date: November 1, 2023

Privacy is integral to everything we do at NonporofitSites.net (NPS), and we’re committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who uses or visits our website, apps, and services.

This Privacy Policy applies to your data provided on or through the NPS website located at nonprofitsites.net, the NPS web application owned and operated by NPS, and the services offered by NPS through the website and apps (in this document we refer to those collectively as the “Services”).

This Privacy Policy describes NPS’ privacy practices in relation to the use of our Services. It also describes the choices available to you with regard to our use of your Personal Information and how you can access and update this information.

If you are a customer of a merchant that uses NPS, this privacy policy does not apply to you or your use of the services. Please refer to the merchant’s privacy policy, which applies to the collection, use, processing and retention of your personal information. Customers of our clients who seek access, or who seek to correct, amend or delete inaccurate data should direct their requests to the merchants who are NPS users. NPS’ users are able to remove and update personal information and data without NPS’ involvement.

In this document, we refer to NPS’ customers and users as “users” and our users’ customers as “customers.”

Things You Should Know

Consent

By using the Services, you consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy and to our collection, processing and sharing of your Personal Information for the purposes set forth herein. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Services.

What We Collect and How We Use It

The reason we collect personal information is to provide a streamlined, secure, and customized experience. The personal information we collect is collected in order for us to offer a great user experience in accordance with that reason.

Generally, you can browse our website (but not our app) without the need for us to collect personal information. When you register with NPS, you may be required to provide information about you such as your name, company name, business address, contact telephone number and email address. A billing address and credit card information are also required if you have chosen a paid account.

You will also provide us with your user names, passwords, and other credentials for your financial accounts that are needed to access and import your financial transactions. Each user in the United States using our credit card processing service will provide us with the last four digits of their Social Security Number so that we may verify the user’s account with our third party payment processor. We also collect the business tax identification number for your business whether issued by a United States or foreign authority, according to where your business is organized. Users of our services may provide us with a routing number and account number for a valid bank account so that we may deposit funds into your account, and so that you may submit payments to us.

When a Visitor contacts us and/or requests information about NPS, we will collect the Visitor’s email address and other contact information so that we may fulfill the Visitor’s request.

Customers of our users may provide limited information including name and email address. Additionally, some information provided to us may individually identify you, and that information, including the foregoing information as described, may be referred to in this Privacy Policy as “Personal Information.”

If you sign up or login using a Google account, we will collect your basic information including email address, user avatar, first name, last name, and Google ID. In addition, for any documents that you request we store in Google Drive, we gather and store the document’s Google Drive ID. This information is used or shared according to the uses and purposes described in section 3 of this document.

You may also sign up using Facebook or LinkedIn. We gather information like name, email address, and user avatar to streamline your user experience and give you valid and secure login credentials.

We may also use Clearbit (and potentially use another third-party service) to gather user and customer avatars, social media profiles, and other publicly available information to create a more seamless experience within our app for our users.

If you do not wish for us to store any of this information, your options include not using NPS or avoiding use of portions of the site for which certain information is collected.

Additional Uses and Purposes

NPS uses information, including Personal Information, for purposes other than those described above, such as recognizing you when you log in to the Services, providing our Services to you, service improvement and research. We may offer or promote new and other products and services offered by us that we believe may be of interest to you.

We use the email addresses of our Users’ customers for research purposes, and we may solicit feedback and reviews of Services from them.

NPS will send you a welcome email, emails regarding billing purposes, and at times service-related announcements. You cannot opt out of service-related emails if you are an account holder, as this is part of the Services. If you wish to subscribe to our newsletter(s), we will use your name and email address to send the newsletter to you. You may choose to stop receiving our newsletter or marketing emails by following the unsubscribe instructions included in each of these emails, or you can contact us.

We display personal testimonials of satisfied customers on our website in addition to other endorsements. We may post your testimonial along with your name only with your consent. Once posted, if you wish to update or delete your testimonial, you can contact us.

Security

The security of your Personal Information is important to us, and we strive to keep your Personal Information private and confidential. When you enter sensitive information (such as a credit card number) on our order forms, we encrypt the transmission of that information using secure Transport Layer Security (TLS).

We follow generally accepted standards to protect Personal Information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, however, is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your Personal Information. If you have any questions about our security measures, please contact us.

NPS and its representatives will never request your account credentials. You should never share your NPS account information with anyone else, including your username and password. We recommend that you use a unique password for your NPS account that is not associated with other websites. We also recommend you choose a password that is at least eight characters long, contains a mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers and special symbols. You should check your NPS account regularly to ensure that your Personal Information has not been tampered with or altered. Any suspicious activity regarding your account, including automated messages or calls from parties you cannot identify, should be reported to NPS at contact us.

Access and Correction

You may correct, update, amend, or remove your personal Information by making the change on our user information page, or request changes through our contact us page, by telephone or postal mail at the contact information listed below. In some cases, because of the interaction of your data with other team members, customers, and so forth, it may be impossible to delete information without disruption of services for other users.

If you no longer desire to use our Services, you may deactivate the Services by contacting us by telephone or postal mail at the contact information listed below. We will promptly respond to your requests regarding changes to Personal Information or our Services.

Retention

We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with Services. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Cookies

NPS uses a technology called “cookies” to store session information. A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier, which is sent to your browser from a website’s computers and stored on your computer’s hard drive. We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. A session ID cookie expires when you close your browser.

We use session ID cookies to track your login status. This cookie is only ever transmitted over HTTPS, meaning it is encrypted as information travels from your computer to our servers.

A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. We use persistent cookies to determine from where you were referred to our website, as well as your last user ID. NPS may set and access NPS cookies on your computer. You can remove persistent cookies by following directions provided in your Internet browser’s “help” directory. Click here for more information on cookies. If you reject cookies, you may still use our website, but your ability to use some areas or functions of our website, such as contests or surveys, will be limited.

We may choose third-party services to publish ads on websites we control. When you view or click on an ad, a cookie will be set to help better provide advertisements that may be of interest to you on this and other websites. Our partners and affiliates use session ID and persistent cookies to better gauge interest in our products. The use of cookies by our partners and affiliates is not covered by this Privacy Policy. We do not have access to, or control over these cookies.

What Else We Collect

As is true of most websites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, identity of your internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, your computer operating system, date/time stamps, and clickstream data. We use this information, which does not identify individual Visitors and Users, to analyze trends, to administer the website, to track Visitors’ and Users’ movements around the website and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We link this automatically-collected data to Personal Information. IP addresses are tied to Personal Information to better gauge our Visitors’ and Users’ needs and provide specific information to best serve them.

Third Party Transfer

NPS will not make your information, including Personal Information, available to any other parties except as provided in this Privacy Policy. We work with third parties or developers who offer products and services that improve or enable our Services, including financial institution connectivity, payment card processing, and funds transfer. When you choose to use these Services, you provide your consent to us to exchange your Personal Information as necessary to provide the ongoing Services requested.

NPS will share your information in order to respond to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements, investigations, court orders, legal process, or to investigate, prevent or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of NPS’ Terms of Use, or as otherwise required by law.

If NPS is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your Personal Information may be transferred to the acquiring person or entity and you will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on our website of any change in ownership.

We may partner with a third-party ad network to manage our advertising on other websites. Our ad network partner will use cookies and Web beacons to collect non-personally identifiable information about your activities on this and other websites to provide you targeted advertising based upon your interests. We may share non-identifiable, aggregate information about our customers, but not Personal Information that identifies you, with our affiliates and partners so that they may offer or promote products and services that we believe may be of interest to you. If you wish to not have this information used for the purpose of serving you targeted ads, please do not use our Services.

The Services may enable you to interact with other third-party services, such as payment card processors, accounting or record keeping services, and ACH (Automated Clearing House) services (each a “Third Party Service”). These Third Party Services or websites may have privacy practices that differ from those of NPS. If you submit Personal Information to any of those websites or Third- Party Services, your information is governed by their privacy policies. We encourage you to carefully read the privacy policy of any Third Party Service you visit.

Our website includes social media features, such as share buttons for Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. These Features may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting on our website, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Social media features are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our website. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.

Children Under The Age of 13

The Services are not intended for use by children, and we do not intentionally collect personally identifiable information about children under the age of 13. If you are under the age of majority in your place of residence (but at least 13 years of age), you may use the Services only under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by this privacy policy and our Terms of Use. Children under the age of 13 may not use the Services, and parents or legal guardians may not agree to the Terms of Use on their behalf.

California Privacy Rights

California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits our customers who are California residents to request certain information about our disclosure of Personal Information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. If you are a California resident and would like to make such a request, please contact us. Please note that we are only required to respond to one request per customer each year.

Changes To Our Privacy Policy

NPS may update this Privacy Policy in order to reflect changes we make to our handling of data. If we make any material changes in either the way we use your Personal Information, or to your choices regarding your Personal Information, we will notify account holders by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your NPS account, prior to the change becoming effective. We may also place a prominent notice on our website notifying Users and Visitors of the change. We encourage you to periodically review this page for the latest information on our privacy practices.
